Physical Therapy in Palm Beach Gardens

Our Palm Beach Gardens Physical Therapy services are an excellent means of healing the body’s musculoskeletal system due to things like injury, surgery, natural deterioration, age or accidents related to work, sports or auto accidents.

Physical therapy is commonly prescribed to rehabilitate patients back to optimal health. It typically requires a series of ongoing visits in order to heal the tissues through manipulation, targeted exercises and technological modalities like electric muscle stimulation and ultrasound. The goal of a series of physical therapy appointments is to retrain the body to restore itself to healthy mobility without pain or disability.

Our PT Program

Physical therapy is a field of care that helps to rehabilitate the body. It’s a key tool we at Basis Medical use to provide our clients with enhanced mobility and pain relief, while retraining their muscles and preventing or repairing injury. PT is also used as a post-surgery therapeutic and to manage chronic conditions.

Our Palm Beach Gardens physical therapy services utilize a combination of hands-on manipulation, exercises, and technology to deliver improved healing over a series of treatments. Depending on your needs or goals, our program can deliver remarkable results and improvements over a series of sessions. These appointments take place over a number of weeks or months depending on the severity of the injuries and go long way in helping accelerate the body’s natural ability to heal itself and reducing time spent either in pain or immobilized.

Palm Beach Garden Therapy Services

Physical therapy requires a series of ongoing visits in order to heal the tissues through manipulation, targeted exercises and technological modalities like electric muscle stimulation and ultrasound. The following therapies are used as part of a custom-tailored treatment program, overseen by our physical therapy and chiropractic team.

The most common form of Physical Therapy is hands-on manipulation. Similar to the art of chiropractic care, hands-on manipulation utilizes techniques such as alignment, mobilization, manipulation and pressure to help release and alleviate the injury, or to help regain optimal movement. This is often foundational within the continuum of care for a Physical Therapy candidate, and is further enhanced with additional treatments.

Physical Therapists work with patients to learn exercises and stretches that they can perform on a daily basis, especially at home, in order to accelerate the body’s ability to heal. Exercises also strengthen the bodies musculoskeletal system, fundamentally changing the resiliency of the body to prevent re-occurring or further injury.

ESTIM utilizes electrode patches to intermittently “stimulate” the muscles in the target are to react and contract. ESTIM is used primarily to help restore function to muscles that have become dormant either due to surgery or injury.

Traction therapy is used to alleviate pressure on the spine and promote alignment. Using decompression techniques, the patient is gently manipulated to reduce pressure along the spinal column. Some conditions treated using this form of therapy include sciatica, pinched nerves, herniated discs and certain disc diseases.

One of the oldest forms of body and muscle rejuvenation, our targeted massage therapy treatments are developed to truly impart holistic healing. Specializing in deep tissue, sports recovery and muscle reconstruction, our massage therapy treatments are an excellent addition to any of our healing therapies, or very effective as a relieving, relaxing treatment all on their own.

Hot and cold therapy is often used when the patient suffers from issues or injury related inflammation or muscle injury. Heating the area of concern makes tissues more pliable, offering a gentle way for the muscles to relax while helping prepare the area for stretching and manipulation. However, cold therapy helps reduce inflammation by constricting the blood vessels. Depending on the injury, both hot and cold therapy may be utilized.

High-pitched sound waves, referred to as Ultrasound, are used to help promote circulation while delivering heat deep within the connective tissues. Ultrasound is useful at helping to increase the healing process for injured ligaments. Ultrasound may also be used to help deliver topical medications deeper into the area for things like pain relief.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and Light Emitting Diode Therapy (LED) has been used for decades to reduce inflammation and edema, and to promote healing throughout the musculoskeletal system. Laser Therapy is an excellent tool to use to help repair the body without the use of pain relievers, steroidal injections or surgery. Our Laser Therapy treatments are ideal as an addition to our other restorative therapies.

Physical Therapy for Chronic Disease

In addition to the scenarios listed above, Physical Therapy is often used to treat genetic or chronic conditions or diseases such as COPD, Cystic Fibrosis, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ), Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, and Lymphedema, to name a few. For many of these candidates, our Palm Beach Gardens PT program is a pathway to healing that both encourages their body to improve through strengthening while potentially avoiding harmful painkillers or therapies that mask symptoms.

Physical Therapy for Athletes

Athletes are another group of clients who benefit greatly from normal Physical Therapy treatments. An athlete’s body is their tool. Invariably, it is tasked with an incredible amount of stress and pressure on a normal basis. PT treatments allow the athlete’s body to heal faster so they may exhibit heightened performance.

In times when injury occurs, Physical Therapy is helpful at restoring the athlete’s mobility, speed and agility so they may get back to performing at an optimal level.
