An ancient healing technique, acupuncture is the practice of using delicate needles to balance out targeted pain (or pressure) points to restore equilibrium and balance the flow of energy via meridians throughout the body. At Basis Medical, this practice helps to relieve pain and stress in the targeted areas.
Cupping Therapy is thought to release stagnant energy and dispel toxins. Fundamentally, the suctioning effect helps blood vessels expand, increasing blood flow, which increases the rate of healing within the target area.
The hair-like needles used in Acupuncture are believed to open up “meridians” throughout the body to help optimize the flow of energy, or “qi”. This process helps to ease chronic pain, relieve migraines and may even help with improving fertility. The idea is that each meridian point on the body is connected to a particular organ. Therefore, stimulating these unique pressure points is thought to help alleviate symptoms in the area of concern.
Cupping therapy uses the power of suction to help muscles replenish and recover faster, better and stronger. Think of it as the inverse of massage therapy, which forces pressure downward onto the muscle system. Cupping Therapy, alternatively, forces the soft tissue upward and away from the body to promote opening. Strategically placed suction cups are affixed to the body to increase blood flow to the area and loosen connective tissue, which helps to reduce pain, inflammation, increase muscle relaxation, and promote faster healing.
Cupping Therapy is thought to release stagnant energy and dispel toxins. Fundamentally, the suctioning effect helps blood vessels expand, increasing blood flow, which increases the rate of healing within the target area. This being so, it’s an excellent therapeutic to help motivate more rapid healing. Cupping Therapy helps improve muscle fatigue and heal injury, and may also help to sedate the nervous system. Acupuncture can be used as a follow-up treatment to Cupping Therapy to further the healing benefits. Cupping Therapy has also used to help pulmonary conditions such as Asthma and Bronchitis as it helps to release pockets of fluid within the lungs.
